Ultra-rare, original release german movie poster for the now legendary german Tibet expedition Ernst Schäfer in 1938/39. This documentary gained quite some fame for its background story: All the members of the expedition were SS officers, and the project was personally sponsored by Reichsführer SS Heinrich Himmler. Himmler suspected the origin of the Aryan race in Tibet, and he also hoped to find proof for his occult theory of a 'hollow earth'. All kinds of occult myths and legends are still ranking around this project. The fact remains, that the films shows the first footage of Tibet (including its capital) ever banned on film. I only know of one other copy of this poster. Nazi censor stamp shows a date of August 1941, but the film only premiered in January 1943. A few fold breaks, otherwise very nice. With Bruno Beger, Horst Preusker, directed by Ernst Schäfer and H.A. Lettow.
